If you follow us on Instagram and through our Blog, you surely must know of our longtime friends, Graystone Custom Builders. Mike and Betty Terry are an insanely talented husband and wife team out of Newport Beach who do it all when it comes to building custom homes from the overall design, build, and material specifications. We have been lucky to work with them on a number of different projects, and we enjoy coming up with beautiful interior furnishings to complement their style.
For our Project Bayshores, the homeowner was already contracted with Graystone Custom Builders to do the home design, material specification and build. The homeowner hired Blackband Design four months prior to completion to do the space planning, furnishings and window treatments. Graystone did an amazing job with the details of the home, every room has special and different cabinet details designed by Graystone’s design team. From exposed wood beams to painted white brick and reclaimed wood accent walls, we had the clean slate that designers dream of!
The goal for the master bedroom was to create a relaxing retreat with a coastal bohemian vibe. We thought a canopy bed would look great in this room paired with the tall ceilings and exposed wood beams. We brought in a pair of larger nightstands to flank the bed. We wanted to keep the bedding neutral and bring in color through the decorative pillows, drapery, and a window seat. Graystone designed a beautiful fireplace surrounded in painted white brick, we wanted to create a small scale seating area in front of the fireplace to complete the room. The Master Bathroom is what makes this retreat really shine, Graystone designed and built the bathroom of our dreams! Boasting a large reclaimed wood accent wall behind the double vanity, a big tub to soak in, and a show-stopping herringbone marble shower.
The bunk room was nearly completed when we were brought on the job and we couldn’t have planned it better ourselves! Graystone outdid themselves with the design and build of this room, creating an inviting space for the clients future grandkids to enjoy. The Graystone design team designed the beds with the top bunk high enough to allow an adult to sit comfortably on the bottom bunk. They double vaulted the ceiling to create cozy upper bunks with built in lighting for each bed. Our client wanted the room to have a 60s surf vibe, while making sure the design of the room wasn’t gender specific. We brought in soft shades of blue, gray, and a pop of orange for color. Graystone actually built the lifeguard chair and the client owned the vintage surfboard which finished off the room while maintaining the casual coastal feel!
