Lighting — the jewelry of a home. It’s the finishing touch of elegance that completes a space just as the perfect accessory tops off an outfit. Fixtures can make such a difference in home design… making a statement with style, complementing the surrounding design elements, and of course illuminating the area. We love light fixtures that pack a punch so our team rounded up a handful of favorites that just might ignite your next design idea.

1. SUSPENDED IN SPACE

Why have one light when you can have 28! This multi-bulb chandelier gives the illusion of defying gravity with its pliable cable structure supporting the glass spheres. The playful assortment of colors offers a pleasant surprise and brings a midcentury twist to modern design. With endless installation possibilities, this work of art is sure to spark curiosity and awe, anywhere.

Ceiling mount fixtures add a layer of style to spaces that can’t accommodate a hanging pendant but call for more interest than a recessed can light. This matte brass and marigold dome is a modern take on the traditional fixture and its scalloped edges give a sweet touch of vintage.

3. NOT YOUR GRANDMA'S STRAND OF PEARLS

A thick, industrial chain links these luminated “pearls” together creating a cluster of glass globes. The bulbs are made in all different colors that make a statement whether the lights are turned on or not. It’s sculptural art suspended from the ceiling.

Intricate mesh casings inspired by Medieval armor dress the glass teardrop bulbs of this pendant. The unlikely mix of elegance and strength makes for a powerful pair of materials.  Sold as individuals or clusters of odd numbers, this light is loveable on its own or with an army.

Inspired by the iconic Japanese Cherry Blossom trees, this chandelier merges nature with sleek design. Its brass rods twist and turn like branches while the glowing bulbs seem to sprout out in a perfectly imperfect organic arrangement. There are countless configurations of this fixture that can be oriented vertically or horizontally.

Ceilings can’t have all the fun — walls need lighting too. This floating disk sconce made of glass, mouth-blown, in Murano, Italy is secured by brass accents. It looks so simple but as we know with truly sophisticated lighting… beauty is in the details.

Czech designer Kateřina Handlová brings leather into her glass lighting creations. The solid material contrasts the transparent structure forming a canteen case. This is a nice break from all the metal fixture options and a great way to layer texture in your designs.

As a modern alternative to recessed can lights and a more personal upgrade to track lighting, popularity is growing for mono point fixtures. They can offer general lighting from the ceiling or direct rays to highlight specific design features or art.

We love any excuse to bring beautiful ceramics into a space and doing so through lighting is an unexpected favorite. The handmade nature of pottery is rich in character and creates an earthy focal point in a room. These Spanish-influenced pendants come in glazed and matte finishes with a variety of colors and carved details that allow the light to shine through.

As its name implies, the swaying rope and hanging bars of this fixture were designed to resemble circus trapeze artists. The combination of materials give a lot for guests to admire and ponder over, and the offset design of the chandelier as a whole can bring an unexpected silhouette to otherwise square and symmetrical spaces. What do you see… intergalactic pandemonium or cocktail party gone awry?

Last but not least, this 1950s snowflake chandelier by the late Finnish artist Paavo Tynell. Made of brass and glass with perforated details, the hanging snowflake shapes dance around the light like shadows adding dimension to the lucky space it hangs in. Tynell’s intricate metalwork has fashioned high profile spaces around the world and continues to inspire fixtures and interiors today.
